The government reviewed a sector-by-sector approach to reducing the state’s economic footprint after state assets worth nearly UZS 30 trillion were privatized in 2025.
Officials reported that state participation still accounts for about 42% of the economy and that 1,685 state-owned enterprises remain in operation. The new review focused on identifying privatization opportunities by sector and accelerating the transfer of suitable assets to private ownership.
In 2025, assets valued at nearly UZS 30 trillion were privatized, generating more than UZS 10 trillion in budget receipts, while land sales produced UZS 6 trillion. The number of state-owned enterprises has fallen by 60% over five years, but the latest proposals indicate that further structural work remains on the agenda.
