A presidential resolution adopted on 20 April 2026 outlines a new phase of Asakabank’s transformation and privatization. The program focuses on market-based operations, risk management and the treatment of non-core and non-performing assets.

A trilateral agreement involving the Ministry of Economy and Finance, EBRD and Asakabank creates a route for EBRD to consider acquiring up to 15% of the bank. Valuation and final transaction terms are expected to be determined separately.
