The World Bank approved a US$150 million concessional credit for small hydropower development with private-sector participation. The programme is expected to mobilise around US$38 million of additional commercial financing.

By 2030, financed plants could add up to 150MW and generate more than 520GWh annually. The programme could avoid up to 430,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Around 270 potential sites had been identified, 93% of them between 100kW and 1,000kW; electricity will be purchased by Regional Electric Power Networks.

With about 270 identified sites, 93% in the 100–1,000kW range, the facility creates a repeatable bank-intermediated pipeline; loan approval remains distinct from disbursement and built capacity.
