The World Bank approved a US$100m loan and US$5m grant intended to expand credit for 7,000 MSMEs and equity for up to 70 high-growth companies by 2030.
The World Bank approved a US$100m loan and US$5m grant for Uzbekistan’s FINGROW project. These are approved programme resources, not private capital already deployed to companies; the Entrepreneurship Development Company and partners are expected to mobilise a further US$500m.
By 2030, the project is expected to expand credit access for about 7,000 MSMEs, including 4,500 women- or youth-led firms, and support 100,000 jobs. Up to 70 high-growth SMEs are expected to receive private-equity backing; all are programme targets rather than realised outcomes.
The intervention addresses an estimated US$6bn MSME credit shortfall and a wide equity gap, with demand estimated at US$20–30bn against about US$2bn of committed fund capital. It can build a pipeline of institutional-quality borrowers and growth companies if mobilisation and underwriting perform.
