Uzbekistan outlines 25GW renewable build-out and nuclear roadmap

Uzbekistan plans 25GW of additional renewable capacity over five years and targets a green-power share above 50% by 2030.

Uzbekistan reported that roughly 4GW of alternative-energy capacity had been commissioned, bringing green sources to 16% of generation. The government then outlined a further 25GW of renewable capacity over five years; that figure is a plan, not installed capacity.

The proposed renewable fleet is expected to produce 64bn kWh of green electricity, and the 2030 policy target is a share above 50% of total generation. Officials also advanced planning for small modular nuclear capacity under IAEA safety requirements.

The roadmap implies a multi-year pipeline for project finance, grids, storage and equipment supply. Bankability will depend on procurement timetables, offtaker credit, tariff structures, grid connection and the conversion of headline capacity into financed projects.
