The EBRD arranged financing of up to US$229.4 million. The project combines a 200 MW solar plant with a 500 MWh battery energy storage system in Tashkent region.
The project was described as the largest battery-energy-storage development of its kind in Central Asia. The solar and storage complex is expected to supply power equivalent to about 170,000 households. The battery capacity was described as equivalent to about 8,000 electric vehicles.
The financing advances limited-recourse private infrastructure and grid flexibility, while the stated amount is a ceiling and the household figure is an estimated equivalent.
