OTP acquired 75% of the state-owned shareholding, equivalent to 73.71% of Ipoteka Bank's total share capital at closing. The remaining 25% of the state-held block was scheduled for purchase within three years.
Ipoteka Bank was Uzbekistan's fifth-largest bank with a 7.6% share of system assets. The bank served about 1.5m retail customers through 39 branches and more than 200 service points. IFC remained involved in financing and transformation support.
The completed first-stage acquisition set a key precedent for foreign strategic investment and bank valuation; purchase of the remaining state-held block was still a planned, not closed, step.
