UzSAMA launched an open international sale process for 100% of Universal Mobile Systems, operating as MobiUz. Rothschild & Co was appointed lead strategic and financial adviser, KPMG handled transaction advice and vendor diligence, and Deloitte acted as independent appraiser.
MobiUz generated UZS 2.086 trillion of net revenue in 2024. The operator had 7.8 million subscribers and offered GSM, UMTS and 4G LTE services. The process was structured in three stages: expressions of interest, non-binding offers and binding offers, with a final-stage guarantee payment of at least 1% of the proposed bid.
The three-stage process creates a landmark control-privatisation opportunity in a scaled telecom operator, but the launch establishes neither an agreed price nor a selected buyer or completed transfer.
