The CBU Board approved a formal macroprudential policy framework on 18 February 2023. The framework defines the purpose, objectives and principles of macroprudential policy.

It establishes the stages for identifying and assessing systemic risks and choosing policy instruments. The document was developed with reference to Basel Committee, IMF and Financial Stability Board practices.

The framework improves predictability around future capital, liquidity and borrower-based measures that influence bank valuations, credit growth and systemic risk.
