A consortium of Natural Juice and Gross was selected to acquire the state’s 100% interest in Angren Pipe Plant for US$19.2 million. Portfolio Investments advised the competitive process, which attracted five expressions of interest and advanced four qualified bidders to due diligence.
According to Portfolio Investments’ company records, the State Assets Management Agency reached an agreement to sell the state’s 100% interest in Angren Pipe Plant LLC to a consortium of Natural Juice LLC and Gross insurance company JSC. The agreed consideration was US$19.2 million, equivalent to UZS 217.5 billion at the Central Bank exchange rate on 14 February 2023.
Portfolio Investments was appointed as privatization adviser following a competitive selection. The firm conducted local and international marketing, including distribution of an investment teaser through its investor network. Five expressions of interest were received from investors in Europe, the CIS and Uzbekistan and assessed against legal, qualification and sanctions-related criteria.
Four qualified applicants signed non-disclosure agreements and received access to financial, tax, legal and environmental due-diligence materials in a virtual data room. The selected binding offer exceeded the independent appraisal and fell within the indicative valuation range calculated by Portfolio Investments; the result was approved by the relevant State Commission.
The transaction is a clear example of how disciplined process design can support price discovery in industrial privatization. Broad investor sounding, qualification filters, structured data-room access, independent appraisal and competitive binding bids created an auditable basis for selecting the buyer and a useful reference for future industrial-asset sales.
