ADB and Indorama Agro signed a US$15m sustainability-linked loan. Proceeds were intended for advances to cotton and wheat farmers and agronomic support.
More than 3,600 farmers and farm workers were expected to benefit. Performance indicators covered Better Cotton Initiative training and integrated pest-management improvements. Agriculture employed about 3.7m people, and Uzbekistan produced 580,000 tonnes of cotton in 2021.
The transaction offered an early domestic benchmark for KPI-linked debt, while the expected beneficiary count and programme impact remained post-signing targets rather than measured results.
