ADB approved a US$200m loan. Twenty-six distribution substations across Uzbekistan were to be upgraded to digital substations.
The project included SCADA systems and digital-protection relays. Climate-proof design was intended to reduce outage and regional-blackout risk. The upgrades were designed to improve efficiency and facilitate renewable-energy integration.
Distribution modernisation addressed a critical reliability and loss-reduction bottleneck, supporting the economics of new generation and industrial demand growth.
